Old Abandoned Farm Equipment
While unsuccessfully stalking a Pileated Woodpecker a few years ago I came across this abandoned machinery in the bush.

Spring may be upon us....hallelujah - 10 March 2015
Did a nature walk at Fort Whyte on the 10th, weather was fantastic, saw about 40 Canada Geese and two small gaggles coming in to land. Didn't see any other migrating birds but it is still very early in Manitoba for migrating birds to be showing up.
One of the gaggles we saw coming in to land. |
New addition at Fort Whyte, a bat house. Had a look through the bottom but no bats were in residence. |
Sod House. Many settlers would build these as their first home on the prairie. Walls are over a foot thick, the house would be well insulated for the prairie winter. |

Bird Photos - November 2014
Last of my photos for 2014, taken in November, not happy with some of them result of dull days and aging camera and or lens.
Cackling Geese |
Panoram of main lake at Fort Whyte, sadly two photos didn't work so the panorama is about 3 frames short |
Magpie - Was really hoping for better results, but very dull day and camera/lens are not working correctly. |
Starlings |
